A NIDR funded webinar from the Employment and Disability Institute (EDI) at Cornell University for employers is to be held Thursday, December 09, 2011 at 1:30 to 3:00 ET

Did you know that your company’s website may present barriers that unintentionally prevent people with disabilities from applying for jobs or purchasing your company’s services or goods? This webinar is designed to provide employers with basic information and guidance regarding web accessibility for people with disabilities, and assist in identifying and addressing potential problems.

Accessible web content opens your customer markets and workplace to people with disabilities. Beyond expanding your web site to this audience, web accessibility may also be a legal requirement. Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act provides technical web accessibility requirements for federal procurement. The Americans with Disabilities Act and other laws provide guidance about discrimination in web sites. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) provide more extensive guidance for web accessibility. This webinar will present an overview of web accessibility and accessibility laws, guidelines, and principles. It will serve as a primer for employers on the requirements and principles of web accessibility.
